Air Force Ball - Spy vs Spy

Every year, Air Gordon's Air Force Ball Council selects a team to orchestrate the annual celebration of the military branch's inception - dating back to September 18th, 1947. From 2018 to 2023, I steered the multimedia division of the council, executing the full array of package design for the local event's branding and identity needs. From initial logo concept to final production, I provided the committee with proof-of-concepts, digital exports, and quotes for products and merchandising to include coins and patches featuring the featured designs.

The Process

The 2019 Air Force Ball features an overall theme of "Spy Vs. Spy", proposed by the event’s annual committee. Working with this, I made the initial decision to maintain a strictly black and white color scheme for emphasis on the clandestine nature of espionage and depictions of "Black and White" while also overlapping with the formal elements of a "Black Tie” event.

The bisected bow tie further strengthens this theme where the lower negative space forms the inverse silhouette of a vague "spy" character. For the distinct human silhouettes on either side, "finger guns" replace the appearance of weapons to add levity and disperse direct notions of violence pertaining to a military-affiliated event.

Using this logo, I subsequently built layouts for all printed media used throughout the event, including tickets, posters, invites, programs, signs, shadow boxes, commemorative glasses, the formal cake, and other miscellaneous stationery items. I coordinated the print-ready files with third-party companies to professionally print the necessary amount of material in bulk.
